Preparing for your puppy

What to buy

  • Food:  Purina Pro Plan Puppy - Chicken & Rice
  • Non-slip bowls for food and water
  • Collar and leash, neck size is about 9.5-10”
  • Tons of chew toys
  • Crate:  Medium or Large w/divider
  • Baby Gates (to gate off safe play areas)
  • Puppy Pads (for limited time house training)
  • Puppy treats (Blue Buffalo Bits are good ones, soft and small)
  • Puppy Teething Chews (N-Bone puppy chew sticks and teething rings are great)

Getting your home ready

  • Arrange your schedule so that someone is home with him for at least a week (for the first couple weeks do not leave alone more than an hour or two).
  • Create a quiet, comforting, stress-free environment avoiding lots of activity, guests, or loud noises giving the puppy time to feel comfortable in his new environment.
  • Allow your puppy 1-2 weeks to fully transition into his new home.
  • Be prepared to follow a routine giving your puppy structure (like children). This helps him feel secure in his environment and sets him up for success for house training.

The dog is a gentleman; I hope to go to his heaven not man's.
